You can help by Printing Eye Shields NOW!
With the supply chain compromised,
we are asking for your help to fill the gap.
SIT REP:
Our front line health care workers are having to ration their PPE. I met a home health care nurse with one used n95 who was asked to work without any PPE. While I can’t make gloves, or sew N95 masks, can at least print face shields to keep airborne droplets from getting into my friends eyes and making them sick.
GOAL:
We have created a quick-to-print frame that will accept any matter of clear plastic that is prepped with a standard 3 hole punch. The 3D model is easily sharable and editable. I am not the original designer of the frame, that credit goes to PRUSA, in Czechoslovakia.
REQUEST:
If you have a 3D Printer… start printing. I know its not time-efficient, but right now… its the only thing that works from home.
Materials Needed:
Any 3D printer. I recommend the Ender 3 Pro they are $219.00 right now, claiming 3-7 days shipping but lets see about that. I just bought two more, arriving Friday Mar 27.
ABS filament (.4mm ) — PLA is not as toxic to print, but wont last w/ clinical DECON
Clear Film 8.5x11 minimum. — Maybe even laminating sheets with a U frame insert!
Any Standard Three hole paper punch

Eric P Thomas got one of the first completed shields! He’s one hell of an inspiration. He had no PPE for himself or his 24 hour caregivers (and is in the high risk population). If you need a little inspiration during these tough times, check out his story, and his work.
My Name is Kevin Leeser. I am an RN living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I became a nurse because since Hurricane Katrina, I seem to find myself in the middle of a disaster, where I do some of my best work. I recently returned from a Dengue Fever Medical response as a member of Team Rubicon. Working there and in Puerto Rico has prepared me for this dynamic situation that we are all trying our best to navigate.
This is the early version. We are now posting a version with 3 pins that will accept a standard 3 hole punched screen of whatever material you can find.
If your printer bed is big enough you can crank out 4 at a time. Thanks Team Rubicon GreyShirt Brain Yang for stepping up!
COVID-19 face shields.
Here are the thingaverse files for the mask frame!!! click the grey box, grey shirts!!!
I have merely adapted and edited a Czech model. It’s not mine, please check these people out! The Czech Dept. of Health ordered 100,000 of theirs!
We are on our own to source the shields themselves.
Hit the OfficeMax… Staples… Amazon.. whatever.. an 8.5 x 11 sheet fits great.
